Jewish Aging Mastery Program: Helping Baby Boomers and Older Adults to Navigate Longer Lives

Desription: NCOA’s Aging Mastery Program (AMP) is a fun, engaging and rapidly growing community program for helping baby boomers and older adults to make the most of their gift of longevity. From an initial pilot with five sites in 2013,  AMP has grown to more than 125 communities in 20 states. NCOA, in collaboration with Rabbis Richard Address and Dayle Friedman, is now developing a Jewish Aging Mastery Program, designed specifically for JCC’s and Jewish congregations. NCOA is looking for JCC’s that would be interested in participating in a multi-community pilot of Jewish AMP in Fall 2016. Please join us for a webinar to learn more about the Aging Mastery Program experiences to date, the new Jewish AMP curriculum and the opportunity to participate in the multi-community pilot.

In doing so, they have become a leader in camp security and Lenny has presented at FJC Leaders Assembly and a number of American Camp Association Conferences. At this session, you’ll hear from the perspective of a camp professional as he talks about the improvements they have made in securing the grounds and what they’ve able to do with a limited budget. By the end, you will walk away with at least 10 new implementable ideas for ways you can improve security at your camp.

Following Semitic Linguistics studies at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, he pursued an MA in Southeast Asian Studies at the University of London. “I started learning Indonesian after reading the ingredients on a bottle of milk I found at the beach in Ashdod, Israel. Anything can be valid material for language learning, and in my tours I try to prove this to the participants”, he says. Guy, who speaks seven languages, works for Google’s language department, is the host of the Streetwise Hebrew podcast, and runs the Florentin Urban Culture tour in Tel Aviv.​

During this webinar, Sharsheret professionals will help you better understand the distinct needs of these women and families, and discuss opportunities for JCC’s to partner with Sharsheret in serving them.

Sharsheret supports young Jewish women and families facing breast cancer at every stage—before, during, and after diagnosis. We help women and families connect to our community in the way that feels most comfortable, taking into consideration their stage of life, diagnosis, or treatment, as well as their connection to Judaism. We also provide educational resources, offer specialized support to those facing ovarian cancer or at high risk of developing cancer, and create programs for women and families to improve their quality of life.
