FIVE TOWNS JCC'S RINA SHKOLNIK NAMED A
TRAILBLAZER IN THE NEW MILLENNIUM

The Nassau County Legislature recently recognized Rina Shkolnik, executive director of the Jewish Community Center of the Greater Five Towns in Cedarhurst , New York , as one of its “Trailblazers in the New Millennium.”
Nassau County Legislator Jeff Toback nominated Shkolnik for her selfless devotion to bettering her community and her passionate advocacy for improving the human condition. Under her leadership, the JCC has greatly expanded the number of programs that address the needs of the Five Towns community. Those initiatives include day care, latch-key and after school programs; and services for those with traumatic brain injuries, Parkinson's disease and multiple sclerosis. There are also services available to meet the needs of the growing Russian immigrant population as well social and counseling services for Holocaust survivors and children with autism and their families.
A native of Israel , Ms. Shkolnik earned a B.A. in special education and Bible and art history and a bachelor's degree in art in Israel . She received her master's in supervision and administration in education from Bank Street College in New York and has a certificate from the Institute for Nonprofit Management from Columbia University 's Graduate School of Business.
