Lay Leadership and Professional Staff Development

About Lay Leader & Professional Staff Development

Human capital is every organization’s most important asset, and we develop that asset in many different ways. For JCC professional staff, we offer a myriad of professional-development opportunities, ranging from the large JCCs of North America Professional Staff Conference to graduate scholarships, webinars, and onsite one and two-day conferences. Executive directors meet at the annual Executives Seminar to talk about what’s going on in the JCC Movement and learn about the latest in nonprofit management techniques. We have a program that offers support and guidance for first-time executives, which includes visits and mentoring. We have established a task force to study how to recruit and retain the finest professionals to lead JCCs in the future.

To help JCCs build the most effective, responsible boards possible, we offer the Esther Leah Ritz Emerging Leaders program at the JCCs of North America Biennial, as well as a full suite of board development and training programs. Our consultant on governance, Dori Donelle, is eager to help JCC boards of directors prepare for a more demanding era in nonprofit governance.  She can guide board members through a confidential self-assessment process and provide written and in-person reports to the board.

Data tells us that people are a JCCs most important asset, and we can help you make the most of yours.
