While this is the first ever fantasy sports challenge hosted by JCC Association, last year, over 19 million Americans created fantasy football teams, and more than half of the total United States population watched the Super Bowl.
For those unfamiliar with fantasy football, the concept is based on the statistics of real NFL players, but each fantasy football team is compromised of players from different teams. Subsequently, a well-chosen fantasy team can do very well despite wins and losses in the real season.
ESPN fantasy sport expert analyst, Matthew Berry, is the honorary commissioner of the 2011-2012 JCCs of North America Fantasy Football Challenge and will be hosting a live streaming “Draft Party” on August 30, where participants can ask questions via e-mail and have them answered on air. “The Talented Mr. Roto” will also be chatting with JCC “coaches” throughout the season about questions that arise or any other concerns they have.
The actual scoring of the FFC utilizes ESPN leaderboard scoring. Anyone 18 or older who wants to play can sign up through JCC Association’s registration website discoverjcc.com/JCCFF for $50 and will be paired with nine other teams to create a league.
