About EDTP
What is the Executive Development Training Program?
Since
1976, the JCC Association has offered the JCC field a highly
professional training program to ensure that the JCC Movement
will always have a group of effective executive directors.
A grant from the JCC Association's New Initiatives Fund enables
us to offer the seventh class of EDTP, which will provide
the JCC Movement with a number of highly qualified candidates
to fill future JCC executive vacancies.
EDTP
is a specialized training program for outstanding potential
JCC executive directors, with three weeks of seminars, tutorials,
and practicums, concluding with a unique ten-day training
program in Israel. The program has been designed for Jewish
Community Center professionals, who have had a minimum of
six years of JCC experience, and whose planned career goal
is to serve as an executive director of a Jewish Community
Center on the North American continent.
Why is this program unique?
The core
of the program is a series of classes and seminars for executive
education. The program includes individual learning modules
based on each participant's learning needs. The JCC Movement's
outstanding executives will serve as faculty, bringing their
extensive experience and knowledge to program participants.
In addition, expert academic faculty bring their unique expertise
to this program. The JCC Association's Center for Jewish Education
is partnered with EDTP to provide faculty as well. Each participant
will be matched with a mentor of the duration of the program.
What
do participants get out of this program?
This program
enables them to understand their strengths as an executive,
as well as identifying the areas that need development. The
individualized work along with the group learning will develop
their personal and professional self to the highest level
of executive potential. The curriculum concludes with "interview
skills" for positions of executive director within the
North American JCC Movement.
How do JCCs benefit?
During
the 15 months of the program, the numerous executive skills
acquired and sharpened by the participants will have a plethora
of benefits to day to day practice in their current position
at a JCC.
When
did the program begin?
The program
is designed as a 15-month sequence, and combines a series
of individual learning modules, five-day seminars, written
practicums and field visitations. Participants are required
to attend group sessions for approximately three five-day
weeks. The next session of EDTP has yet to be scheduled. Stay tuned to this page for more information.
