JCC Maccabi Games Remember Munich 11 Every Year

The fortieth anniversary of the murder of 11 Israeli athletes at the Olympic Games in Munich in 1972 has drawn an outpouring of support for an official Moment of Silence at the London Olympics. This initiative was spurred by JCC Rockland, one of the hosts of this year’s JCC Maccabi Games, but a memorial to the fallen Israelis has been a feature of every set of Games for the past 15 years. Jewish teens have learned about and mourned these victims of terrorism at the Opening Ceremonies of the JCC Maccabi Games all over the U.S. This video is a poignant reminder of that loss as well as a recognition of the resilience and vitality of the Jewish people.
