The recent PEW study found that more than sixty percent of younger U.S. Jews say that remembering the Holocaust is essential to their sense of Jewishness. With that in mind, JCC Maccabi Israel® is offering an exciting once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to participate in our March of the Living program to Poland and Israel, April 23 – May 8, 2014.
The program is offered to selected teens entering eleventh or twelfth grade and enables Jewish teens to affirm that the Holocaust did not destroy the Jewish world. JMI will work with JCCs to maximize outreach and make it as simple as possible to recruit within the community. Incentives are offered to JCCs who recruit more than 10 participants. If a JCC sends 10 teens on the JMI MOL program, it can send a staff member for free (land only). Staff can also join at the same rate as the teens (however there is limited space for additional staff members). If Holocaust survivors in the community are able and interested in joining the pre-trip programming or travel with the group, JMI is happy to explore these possibilities.
After seven days in Poland exploring the rich Jewish life that existed there before the Holocaust and participating in the March of the Living, the group will travel to Israel in time to celebrate Yom Ha’atzmaut, Israel’s Independence Day and visit Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Masada.
