StandWithUs is an international, non-profit Israel education organization. Founded in 2001, our staff and volunteers are inspired by our love for Israel and the belief that education is the road to peace. StandWithUs is dedicated to educating people of all ages about Israel and to combating the anti-Semitism and extremism that often distorts the issues. We believe that knowledge of the facts will correct common prejudices about the Arab-Israeli conflict, and will promote discussions and policies that can help promote peace in the region. Through cutting edge print materials, speakers, programs, conferences, student fellowships and mentorship, missions to Israel, campaigns, social media and other internet resources including educational films, we ensure that the story of Israel’s achievements and ongoing challenges is told in middle schools, in high schools, on college campuses and in communities around the world. Based in Los Angeles, StandWithUs has eighteen offices and chapters across the U.S., Canada, Israel and in the UK. We also host programs in South Africa, China, Europe and Australia.
StandWithUs can help with Israel programming for communities of all ages or partnership on existing programs in your JCCs to grow Israel content or to help bring people in the doors and increase attendance. We have skilled staff who know how to work with students and communities of all ages who can come to speak to your communities. Additionally, we tour specialized Israel-related speakers around throughout the year.
StandWithUs has many opportunities for students in your communities to get involved in educating about Israel. We have interactive, experiential programs, presentations, educational materials and swag at your disposal. We also have two outstanding leadership opportunities for high school students – the Teen Leadership Council (TLC) and the High School Internship – and a Middle School curriculum that teachers can use called LINK.
The TLC program is a one semester commitment that is open to all high school students. It brings together students from across a city or state to develop their Israel education and leadership skills. The TLC members meet on google hangouts 4 times during the semester with their StandWithUs regional high school coordinator. At the end of the program, students collaborate to create an Israel education program for their peers in the area. This experience is typically a stepping stone to the internship or a preparation for college.
The High School Internship is an exclusive experience for juniors and seniors in high school that involves a competitive interview process. It is an all-expenses paid internship for North American students (US & Canada) that includes two national conferences in Los Angeles. The internship begins with a conference in Los Angeles in August. This is where interns develop their vision for the year, begin developing higher level Israel knowledge, and professional and leadership skills. After the conference, interns within a region meet monthly in group meetings on google hangout with their coordinator to continue their education and leadership training, as well as a monthly individual meeting with their regional coordinator for individual mentorship. During spring semester, interns come back to LA for our international conference, which brings together the StandWithUs North American high school, campus, and community, as well as international delegations.
LINK is a cutting-edge, digitally-interactive, experiential curriculum. In addition to the on-line application, students will work in pairs and teams, engaging in hands-on, project-based activities as well as educational board games and scavenger hunts. It explores students’ thousands-year-old historical connection to Israel and empowers them to establish their own, unique modern connection. It is designed to create a relationship of love, pride and respect between middle school students and Israel.
