Mahal Burr

Mahal Burr currently serves as the Bridge Builders CHANGE coordinator, where she works with 38 youth organizers across the Memphis community to tackle social injustices. Currently, she is supporting six different groups of youth that are working on issues ranging from expanding the voting age to 16, combating sexual violence, creating safe spaces for LGBTQ+ youth, replacing punitive school discipline with restorative methods, juvenile justice and designing incarcerated informed mentorship programs. In addition, outside of her work, Burr is a community activist. Currently, she serves on the coordinating committee for the Memphis Activism Calendar, Alternatives to Violence Project Memphis Chapter and the March for Our Lives.
