JCC Israel Center: Your Home Away From Home

JCC Association established its permanent home in Israel in 1973, as an expression of its commitment to strengthen ties between North American Jewry and Israel. The Solomon and Mary Litt Building, located at 12 Hess Street in central Jerusalem, was acquired in 1977. Today, the JCC Israel Center:

  • represents the interests of JCC Association and North American Jewish Community Centers in Israel
  • sponsors Jewish educational seminars and other special programs for JCC leadership and for JCC professionals (in partnership with the Jewish Agency’s Department for Jewish Zionist Education, the Israel Association of Community Centers, and the Mandel School)
  • operates a variety of JCC Maccabi Israel programs for teens, in partnership with Maccabi World Union, Maccabi USA/Sports for Israel, Maccabi Canada, and the JAFI’s Department for Jewish Zionist Education 
  • operates JCC membership programs to Israel, continental or community programs for members in a variety of themes
  • cultivates ongoing people-to-people partnerships between North American JCCs and Israeli matnasim (community centers), often under the auspices of Partnership2Gether, to bring teens, families, lay leaders, teachers, professionals and others together for collaborative programs in areas of mutual interest
  • works with Israeli organizations and institutions to promote ties based on direct connections and on issues of common interest among Jews in Israel and North America
  • prepares educational resource materials for use in programs sponsored by JCC Association’s Israel Office and for the JCC Movement in North America
  • houses the office of the World Confederation of JCCs and serves as a link to the JWB Jewish Chaplains Council among former military chaplains resident in Israel
