Sheva Center Communication, Technology, and Operations Associate

Department: Sheva Center for Innovation in Early Childhood Jewish Education & Engagement

Position Summary

JCC Association of North America is the largest platform for Jewish engagement on the continent – reaching more families, employing more staff, and seeing more Jewish families through the doors of our nearly 150 JCCs across the U.S and Canada than any other sector. Understanding the unique role that JCCs play in the engagement of families with young children, significant philanthropic investment has been made in the Sheva Center for Innovation in Early Childhood Jewish Education & Engagement to help lead and support our movement’s early childhood centers, which serve more than 35,000 young learners every year. The foundation of the Sheva Center’s work is the JCCs of North America Early Learning Framework, built on seven (“sheva” in Hebrew) core elements of early childhood education. The Sheva Center empowers early learning center leadership teams and classroom educators through a diverse set of professional development, training, and networking opportunities that enable JCC early learning centers to thrive as centers of excellence.

The Sheva Center Communication, Technology, and Operations Associate is a full-time position and reports to the Sheva Center Vice President. The Communication, Technology, and Operations Associate serves as the administrative and programmatic backbone of the Sheva Center — supporting communications, technology, operations, and large-scale online learning initiatives. As a member of the Sheva Center team, the Sheva Center Communication, Technology, and Operations Associate plays a vital field-facing role, helping to operationalize program initiatives while interacting with early childhood professionals.

The Sheva Center Communication, Technology, and Operations Associate is committed to operational excellence and innovation and plays a pivotal role in advancing the Sheva Center’s current work. They thrive on building relationships with early childhood professionals through reflective, empathetic listening and are open-minded and open-hearted. The Communication, Technology, and Operations Associate must simultaneously be an inspirational communicator and a continuous learner. They are committed to a culture of constructive feedback, where continuous improvement is encouraged. They share a commitment to enriching North American Jewish life, particularly by advancing early childhood Jewish education and family engagement as a means of building our Jewish communities of the future.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as a welcoming presence and first point of contact for the Sheva Center
    • Manage the Sheva Center email address: respond to inquiries, provide resources, schedule meetings, or direct to other staff members as appropriate
    • Manage JCC movement early childhood discussion lists
    • Engage in outreach and intake for Sheva Center programming
  • Professional Development
    • Online
      • Organize and provide logistical support
        • Set calendar
        • Registration
        • Outreach
        • Communication
        • Tech and logistical support
    • In-Person (Gatherings/Retreats/Cohorts or the like)
      • Project management from planning to execution, minus content development: create budget, book the venue, contract with outside consultants, handle permits/insurance, market the event, manage registration, and staff up, oversee setup, run check-in, coordinate vendors, keep the schedule on track, manage AV, handle guest needs, stay ready for safety/logistics issues, process consultants and vendors invoices, send thank-yous, reconcile the budget, survey participants, expense reimbursements, etc.
  • Data
    • Track and report engagement with the Sheva Center
  • Develop and execute the Sheva Center social media and communication strategies, in collaboration with the Marketing department, when applicable.
  • Serve as the day-to-day point of contact with the Sheva Center’s public relations firm or consultants — proactively supplying updates, event details, data, and impact stories so the firm has what it needs to move projects forward, and following up to keep deliverables on schedule
  • Finances
    • Outside contractor agreements, set up with finance department, invoice processing
    • Purchases
    • Travel-related reimbursements/expense reports
    • Maintain monthly finances
  • Any other department-related administrative tasks: Masterfile, JCC Resource Center, manage JCC Association, and movement calendars, subscriptions, Workmajic, etc.
  • Act as liaison with JCCs, other JCC Association departments, and outside agencies for matters related to the Sheva Center
  • Work independently and within a team to develop and coordinate special non-recurring and ongoing projects
  • Assist with other duties as assigned

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Strong organizational skills and administrative experience
  • Project management expertise with the ability to work under pressure, prioritize and be attentive to details, handle simultaneous responsibilities, and meet deadlines
  • Collaborative team player with ability to work independently
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Expert in Zoom Communications platform and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with MailChimp or similar email distribution platforms
  • Experience in data collection and data-driven decision-making
  • Comfortable serving as the point person for an outside public relations firm — proactively surfacing the information, updates, and materials they need, and following up to keep projects moving
  • Working knowledge of the Sheva Center’s program calendar and initiatives, to recognize which updates and milestones are worth passing to a communications partner
  • Ability to translate program and survey data into material a communications partner can use for stories and pitches
  • Comfortable working against externally set deadlines and following up proactively, without needing to be prompted
  • Ability to anticipate and react to projects as they arise
  • Maturity and experience to self-direct and manage workload
  • Knowledge of the JCC Movement and programs preferred
  • Nonprofit experience preferred

Compensation and Benefits

JCC Association offers a competitive salary and benefits package including:

  • Salary range is $65,000 to $70,000, annual.

  • Eight paid legal holidays and up to 13 paid Jewish holidays. In addition, the office closes early on the eve of three Jewish holidays.
