JCC Association Announces Hire of Marshall S. Levin as Chief Philanthropic Officer
Levin is the former CEO of the American Committee for the Weizmann Institute of Science
NEW YORK — JCC Association of North America announced the appointment of Marshall S. Levin as the organization’s new chief philanthropic officer (CPO). Levin, who previously served as CEO of the American Committee for the Weizmann Institute of Science, brings to the role decades of experience in the nonprofit and for-profit world, including management of record-setting international fundraising campaigns and more than 50 years of personal involvement in the JCC Movement.

His tremendous success at the Weizmann Institute, ADL, and UJA-Federation of New York will enable our organization to markedly advance the pursuit of its vision for greater Jewish community and more vibrant Jewish life across North America,” said Doron Krakow, president and CEO of JCC Association. “Marshall’s expertise and leadership will be indispensable to our resource development efforts and much more.”
As CPO, Levin will spearhead JCC Association’s major fundraising initiatives, developing the vital relationships that will lead to philanthropic enthusiasm for its growing number of programs.

Her leadership of the financial resource development team since 2018 saw a 10-fold increase during her tenure, securing over $23 million in philanthropic investments in the past year.

During his 11 years at the American Committee for the Weizmann Institute of Science (ACWIS), Levin generated new passion among U.S. donors for the Institute’s scientific research programs. Before his tenure at ACWIS, he served as the senior associate national director and director of national development for the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). He also worked as executive director of Financial Resource Development for UJA-Federation of New York; executive director of Community Planning & Allocations for The Associated-Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore, and supervisor of Northern Israel for the Ministry of Social Welfare. In the for-profit sector, Levin was founder and CEO of a national education company, editor-in-chief of a book publishing house, and chief creative officer of an entertainment company. An award-winning filmmaker and author, he is also a former professional athlete and coach. He is an honors graduate of Swarthmore College and Bryn Mawr Graduate School.
Levin’s involvement in the JCC Movement goes back to his childhood. In 1990, he coached the girls’ basketball team from the JCC of Greater Baltimore in Maryland at the Detroit JCC Maccabi Games®, before helping the same JCC host the Games in 1992. In 1991, he worked with JCC Global to convert a former KGB office in Odesa, Ukraine, into what is now the Beit Grand JCC in Odesa. In 2013, he and his wife attended the JCC Maccabi Games in Orange County, California, where his son won the gold medal in tennis, representing the Stamford JCC in Connecticut, where Levin now lives.
