NEW YORK–The JCC of Northern Virginia in Fairfax was vandalized early Saturday morning by someone who defaced the building, painting 19 swastikas along its façade. The criminal use of this symbol of the murderous regime of Nazi Germany—the emblem of the most vicious and savage attempt to annihilate the Jewish people in history—was discovered by employees opening the building at 7 a.m. Security camera footage captures a suspect on film, and law enforcement was immediately notified.
“We condemn this abhorrent act, committed against a beloved Jewish community institution, one that proudly opens its door to members of the community of all faiths,” says Doron Krakow, president and CEO of JCC Association of North America.
“We are grateful for the seriousness with which local law enforcement has responded and know they will work hard to bring the perpetrator to justice. We applaud the leadership of the JCC and its exemplary efforts to remove these despicable symbols and return quickly to the business of serving the community.”
This is the second time in 18 months that the JCC has been defaced with anti-Semitic graffiti.
