JWB Passport, an initiative of JWB Jewish Chaplains Council®, a signature program of JCC Association of North America, is designed to attract Jewish military families and enable them to join a Jewish Community Center (JCC)—easily, without financial hardship, and for the duration of their active-duty service and beyond.
No matter what type of connection Jewish military families have to Jewish life and Jewish community, JWB Passport welcomes them into the JCC Movement with an opportunity to explore, discover, and engage in the power and beauty of Jewish life—now and long into the future.
Although each military family and each JCC will shape its own relationships, JWB, as part of the JWB Passport initiative, will facilitate the creation of the relationship and ensure a warm handoff to another JCC when families have a permanent change of duty station.
The launch of JWB Passport is possible thanks to generous funding from Nancy and Irv Chase, members of the Merage JCC of Orange County in Irvine, California. It will begin initially at JCCs close to large U.S. military installations and grow over time.
Currently, JWB Passport is available at the Simon Family JCC, Virginia Beach, Virginia and the Lawrence Family JCC, San Diego, California.
Plans are in place to expand JWB Passport in the coming year at these agencies:
- Kahn JCC, Columbia, South Carolina
- Barshop JCC, San Antonio, Texas
- Pozez JCC of Northern Virginia, Fairfax, Virginia
