A Song of Service

The second edition of the JWB Jewish Chaplains Council Siddur includes a special prayer—the Song of Service, A Prayer for Our Armed Forces.

We’re proud to partner with Rabbi Gerry Skolnik, author of the “Prayer for America’s Military Personnel,” and world-renowned Cantor Daniel Mendelson, who composed the JWB Song of Service to celebrate JWB’s 100 years of serving those who serve.

We invite you to enjoy Cantor Mendelson’s inspiring video performance of the Song of Service and download the sheet music and lyrics to share with your congregation and community for Shabbat and at services throughout the year. To download the Hebrew with the English translation of the Song of Service prayer, click here.

You can also find this video on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We hope you’ll showcase videos of your congregation or community’s rendition of the prayer throughout the year using  #JWBSongofService.

We also invite you to share with us as you, and your congregations perform this beautiful tribute to our men and women who are serving and who have served in the armed forces.

November 8, 2019, the Wilshire Boulevard Temple in LA (WBTLA) dedicated its Shabbat service to Jewish veterans. Cantor Lisa Peicott led the choir in a beautiful performance of JWB’s Jewish Chaplains Council’s Song of Service. You can watch just that portion of the service here, or stream the entire service from WBTLA’s website.
