If you’re pursuing rabbinic or cantorial ordination, consider participating in the Chaplain Candidate Program, which will add an entirely different facet to your education, your professional endeavors as a member of the clergy, and your life.
As a military chaplain candidate (intern), you will:
- Learn to support the spiritual needs of our nation’s armed forces
- Be commissioned as an officer in the U.S. military and develop leadership skillsthat come along with military rank
- Receive competitive pay and benefits for training and internship time
- Be eligible for generous scholarships that cover tuition, books and fees (requires a commitment to active service following ordination)
- Experience the rewards and challenges of working on a diverse team alongside chaplains of other faiths
- Serve at installations near or far from home, with travel on active duty training tours paid for by the government
- Have no obligation to the military following ordination
- Have a head start in training, as well as significant pay advantages, if you choose active duty or reserve chaplaincy following ordination
